International Center of Neurology of the Directorate of International Medical Centers

The International Neurology Center in our capital is also a vivid symbol of the creation of the most modern conditions for the protection of public health by the state. We are proud to say that the International Neurology Center in its magnificent building has all the conditions for the prevention and effective treatment of neurological diseases.

The center is fully equipped with equipment from the world's leading manufacturers of medical products. The medical staff undergo regular training, improving their professional qualifications.

The Neurosurgery Department of the center is doing tremendous work on the treatment of diseases of the brain and spinal cord. High-quality innovative equipment is of great importance in the removal of tumors that occur in the brain, without harming the activity of the nervous system. The modern neural navigation system at the center helps to accurately diagnose the disease in the brain, to increase the effectiveness of the operation and to prevent possible complications in the postoperative period. Removal of brain tumors by clipping aneurysms has been improved. In this way, the aneurysm neck is closed with specialized clamps and safe treatment is performed to prevent brain hemorrhage.

Surgical treatment of epilepsy in the field of neurosurgery is also fully improved. On the basis of day and night electroencephalograms, the foci that caused the attack are detected in the patient's brain. As a result of the detection of those foci, targeted treatment is carried out through surgery. At the same time, the patient is completely cured of epilepsy, and then he does not need to take medications regularly.

Vascular examination is performed in the Angiographic Research Department of the center. All possibilities have been created for conducting angiographic studies for atherosclerosis of cerebral vessels, arteries of the upper and lower extremities, vessels of internal organs and the heart. Duplex ultrasound scans can detect atherosclerotic plaques at an early stage in the common carotid arteries, internal carotid arteries, and vertebral arteries supplying blood to the brain. Thus blood circulation in the brain of patients is restored by stenting operations in diseases associated with reliable blood supply. As a result of selective angiographic examination, atherosclerotic narrowing of the internal carotid arteries (stenosis) are eliminated by balloon angioplasty and stent placement.

All possibilities have been created for the effective treatment of diseases of the cerebral vessels — aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, through the use of interventional neuro-radiological devices. An angiogram of the cerebral vessels is performed, an aneurysm is detected and spiral embolization is performed. Thus, treatment plays an important role in preventing hemorrhagic strokes and reducing the incidence of non-infectious diseases.

In acute cerebrovascular diseases, ischemic strokes, and when thrombus of the internal vessels of the brain, emergency operations are performed to remove this thrombus.

In the Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Department of the International Neurology Center, patients in a difficult situation are undergoing intensive treatment. All conditions have been created for the timely conducting of a full-scale study. Systemic thrombolytic therapy has proven itself well in patients with a confirmed diagnosis of acute ischemic stroke. The drug administered for this purpose is of great importance in dissolving thrombus formed inside the cerebral artery. It is scientifically known that immediate treatment, as soon as the blood vessels of the brain are blocked and a stroke begins, is most effective.

Resection of large neoplasms using innovative equipment is also successfully performed, that is, complete removal of the neoplasm. When removing brain tumors, the course of the operation is under constant neuro-monitoring, which helps to prevent possible neurological disorders after surgery.

Neurosurgeons have begun to develop new treatments for tumors found in the motor areas of the brain. The risk is high for operations in the motor area of the brain. In the postoperative period, the patient may experience motor disorders such as paralysis of the arms and legs. Today, with the help of an innovative neuro-monitoring device, special electrodes are attached to the arms and legs under anesthesia, electrical stimulation of the brain is performed, and a neurophysiologist warns the neurosurgeon about approaching the motor zones (brain centers responsible for movement) during surgery. Thus, the neurosurgeon avoids the vital area without harm. Thanks to the use of innovative technologies, such operations are now widely used in neurosurgery.

When hydrocephalus, there is an increase in the amount of fluid in the brain due to blockage of the passage of cerebrospinal fluid, which accumulates in the ventricles of the brain. It leads to various types of neurological disorders. In such cases, endoscopic operations are performed by creating a small gap without patient's skull dissection.

Clipping of aneurysms caused by weakening of the walls of cerebral vessels is successfully performed through neurosurgical operations. It prevents rupture of the aneurysm, which leads to a decrease in blood flow to the brain.

Filling the spinal cord cavity with fluid is called “syringomyelia”. If it is located in the brain stem, it is called a “syringobulbia”. When this disease, paralysis appears in the hands of patients. Such diseases are diagnosed at an early stage, and micro-bypass surgery is performed.

It is known that there are 12 pairs of nerves in the human body. Neoplasm operations around the V, VII, VIII, IX paired nerves are also successfully performed. For the first time in Turkmenistan, the “Awake” surgical method was used with the participation of Professor Zvi Ram a neurosurgeon from Israel. It is when neoplasms in the center of the brain responsible for movement and speech are surgically removed. “Awake” surgery is the process of continuing the operation when the patient is brought to consciousness during the operation.

When skull dissecting, general anesthesia is applied until the brain tumor is reached, then the patient is brought to consciousness and the operation is continued in this state. If the patient can play musical instruments, the patient is engaged in playing music, it allows monitoring the patient's motor function, especially the early detection of violations of fine motor skills of the fingers. During the operation, the patients are talked to, and their speech, intellect and counting are monitored. As a result, possible postoperative movement and speech disorders are prevented.

Treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of patients are carried out in the Department of Acute Cerebral Circulatory Disorders of the center. Patients are not only treated with medication, but also undergo early rehabilitation with the participation of physiotherapists. This shows its positive results.

Early Rehabilitation Department provides comprehensive rehabilitation measures, including continued treatment of patients in the early and late periods after stroke, prevention of secondary stroke. Comprehensive diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive measures are carried out in patients with nervous diseases in a timely manner. It contributes to improving the health of patients with non-infectious diseases, increasing life expectancy, and fully restoring vital functions.

In the X-ray Diagnostic Department, patients with nervous diseases undergo computer and magnetic resonance imaging, and extensive work is underway to diagnose diseases early and to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment.

The Physiotherapy Department mainly carries out health and rehabilitation work. Patients are taught special exercises to prevent the development of post-stroke disorders. With the help of specialized equipment, patients perform exercises to restore active mobility.
