Council of Elders Expanded under Halk Maslahaty and Berdimuhamedov Foundation
The composition of the Council of Elders under the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship has been expanded. The decision was made on Tuesday during a session held at the Maslahat Köşgi Palace in the capital, following the instructions of the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Meretgeldi Gulgeldiyev and Italmaz Saparlyev, members of the Halk Maslahaty and honored elders of Turkmenistan, were appointed to represent Ashgabat. Kakajan Tashliyev, a representative of the Council of Elders from the city of Arkadag, was selected for the Ahal Province, according to the official state media.
Speaking at the session, the elders emphasized that the opportunities established at the state level enable them to effectively utilize their extensive life and professional experience to educate the younger generation, strengthen national unity, and promote spiritual and moral values.
All candidates were unanimously approved. Meeting participants expressed their readiness to actively contribute to the implementation of national programs aimed at improving public welfare, enhancing social stability, and promoting Turkmenistan’s centuries-old national traditions.
The Council of Elders under the Halk Maslahaty was established in July 2023 by Presidential Decree to encourage greater involvement of elders in public life, drawing on their valuable experience to foster unity and support informed decision-making on state matters through collective discussion.
